QMe Prompter — User Manual

Download and sign in

QMe runs on iPhone and iPad, with a companion Apple Watch app. Create an account and your songs, playlists, and books sync to it — the same library appears on every device and in the web console. Two demo songs are added to new accounts so you can try the teleprompter immediately.

The 30-day free trial and QMe Pro

Every new account gets 30 days with everything unlocked — the full Pro experience. After the trial, the free plan lets you play your 3 oldest songs and keep 3 saved recordings; the rest of your library stays visible (nothing is ever deleted) but locked until you upgrade. QMe Pro is a monthly or yearly subscription (yearly is the best value) and unlocks unlimited songs and recordings, Group Jam, G2 glasses pairing, backing tracks, the drum tuner, per-song MIDI, and recording enhancement.

Built-in tutorials

Short overlay walkthroughs fire the first time you visit each area — Home, the song library, books and color tags, playlists, Jam, the Apple Pencil canvas, and the drum tuner. Skip them any time; they don’t come back.

The web console

Your whole library is editable from any computer. Typing lyrics, bulk imports, and library housekeeping are faster on a keyboard — see the Web Console section for everything it can do. Changes sync to the app instantly.

Your files, in the Files app

Recordings, backing tracks, and imported images live in QMe’s Documents folder, browsable from Apple’s Files app.

Find a song, fast

Type a few letters and QMe live-filters your library by title or artist; tap a result and you’re straight into the teleprompter. Below the search, a Recent row shows your latest songs, and quick-action buttons jump to Add Song, the Tuner, Playlists, and Jam.

Feature cards

Cards introduce what QMe can do — smart glasses, Apple Watch, MIDI, backing tracks, Apple Pencil, the tuners — and tapping one takes you to that feature. The card at the top shows your trial or Pro status.

The song list

Search by typing or by voice (tap the mic and just say it), and sort by title, artist, or date added. Each song row shows its artwork plus small badges: a pencil tip (handwritten notes), an orange note icon (tab image), a blue waveform (backing track), a colored dot (your tag), and the books it belongs to. Swipe left on a row to Edit or Delete. Long-press a row to set its color tag or book membership on the spot.

Books

Books are named collections — “Wedding Set”, “Sunday Service” — shown as a shelf above the library. Each has a color and an icon, and tapping one filters the list to it. Deleting a book never deletes its songs. Books sync with the web console.

Color tags

Six colors, yours to define — by band, by readiness, by set. The tag shows as a dot on the artwork, and the chips above the list filter by color with one tap.

Adding songs — every way in

• Create New Song — a blank editor with title, artist, key, BPM, artwork (camera or photo library), and a lyrics-and-chords editor. It can even write lyrics with AI: describe the style and theme and get a complete formatted song to start from.
• Search Online — find the song on Apple Music (title, artist, artwork, and track link fill in automatically), then pull the chords: search AZLyrics in the built-in browser and tap Grab Lyrics, follow the Ultimate Guitar guide, or import a PDF. A paste banner appears automatically when you’ve copied text anywhere.
• Paste Chord Sheet — paste any chord-over-lyrics text; a live preview shows how many sections, lines, and chords QMe detected before you commit.
• Import PDF — QMe reads the PDF’s text and builds sections with chords aligned over the right words. Works best with real-text PDFs, not scans.
• Import ChordPro / text file — accepts .chordpro, .cho, and .txt files with inline [C] chords.
• From Safari — on any lyrics page, tap Share → QMe Prompter. The page opens in QMe with Grab Lyrics ready.

After any import, QMe finds and attaches cover artwork automatically.

AI Clean Up

Pasted something messy? AI Clean Up strips ads, links, and junk, converts stray tab into chord names, adds section headers, and returns a clean chart. It uses your own Anthropic AI key (a one-time setup in Profile → AI Chord Generation — about a penny per song).

Chords stay where you put them

QMe stores each chord’s exact position over the words it’s played on, and keeps that alignment in the editor, on the teleprompter (even when long lines wrap at big text sizes), on the glasses, and in every export.

The control bar

Three ways to scroll

When Apple Music or a backing track is armed, the audio drives the scroll instead — the lyrics can’t drift from the song. Your chosen mode is remembered; “Show scroll picker on next play” in settings brings the chooser back.

Gestures on the lyrics

• Drag to move your place — the section rail follows your finger and wherever you let go becomes your position; auto-scroll continues from there. Tiny accidental brushes are ignored.
• Tap a line while playing to re-sync to it (voice follow picks up from there).
• Long-press a line for Touch Mode — then tap any line to jump precisely.
• Pinch to resize the text live; the size you see is the size you keep, saved to the song.
• Swipe left/right to change songs inside a setlist.

Section timeline & looping

A rail of every section — tap one to jump there. The ⟳ loop button lets you pick a start and end section and loop the range for practice. With an Apple Music track playing, long-press a section to stamp its exact time (or use tap mode to mark a whole song in one pass, and fill to estimate the rest) so section jumps seek the audio precisely.

Count-in

A one- or two-bar count with clicks, haptics, and a big on-screen countdown before the scroll starts — lyrics stay readable behind it. When you’re recording, the count runs silently so clicks never end up on your take.

Recording takes

Three options: Audio Only, Video — You (front camera with a lyrics overlay), or Video — Audience View (back camera). A live mic meter shows your level; stopping opens a save sheet where you name the take or discard it. Takes land in the Takes tab.

Apple Music & backing tracks

Link a song to its Apple Music track, or attach a local audio file as a backing track PRO — more reliable than streaming on stage, and it becomes the default source for that song. Press play and QMe plays the audio and locks the lyrics to the playback position. A “Bluetooth Audio” pill appears when sound is routed to Bluetooth.

Edit lyrics without leaving the stage

A full editor opens over the prompter and returns you to the same spot. It includes an AI Lyric Assistant — “write a chorus”, “add a bridge”, or your own prompt — with suggestions you can insert in one tap.

BPM and the Capo Calculator

Set BPM by typing, tapping the tempo out, choosing a preset, or looking it up online in-app. The Capo Calculator takes the song’s key and shows what shapes to play at every capo fret, starring the positions that land on easy open chords.

Connecting and learning your pedal

Pedals act like tiny keyboards, so they pair in iOS Bluetooth settings — QMe hears them automatically, and common pedals work with zero setup. Tap Learn Pedal, press your advance pedal, then your back pedal, and QMe memorizes your buttons whatever mode the pedal is in. A built-in Device Guide has per-model steps (LEKATO, AirTurn DUO, JOYO, generic).

The pedal works in every scroll mode — before play, during the count-in, mid-auto-scroll, and paused. It’s the hands-free safety valve.

Six actions, three gestures per button

Assignable actions: Advance · Back · Start/Stop · Scroll Faster · Scroll Slower · Toggle Auto-Scroll. Each physical button can carry a different action on Tap, Double Tap (two quick presses), and Hold (half a second) — so a 2-button pedal reaches all six. Buttons without gestures fire instantly with zero added delay.

Lines per stomp — iPad and glasses separately

One advance press jumps the iPad by a half-page turn (default 6 lines) and the glasses more gently (default 4) — each adjustable, because the two displays read differently.

Connect your gear

Pair Bluetooth MIDI devices, see every connected output, and target one (or broadcast to all). A Test Messages section sends Program Changes and Control Changes on demand so you can prove the connection before a gig.

Per-song and per-section MIDI PRO

Give each song Song Start actions (patch selects, scenes — fired when the song activates) and By Section actions — clean for the verse, drive for the chorus, boost for the solo — fired automatically as the prompter enters each section, however you got there. Each action has a name, type (PC/CC), channel, values, and optional bank select. MIDI Learn captures values straight from your gear, and Test fires an action immediately.

MIDI through a setlist

With this on, moving to the next song in a set automatically fires that song’s MIDI — your rig follows the setlist by itself.

Bulk MIDI import

Migrating? Import your entire library’s MIDI in one pass on the web console — from a CSV export or straight from a SongBook Pro backup. See Web Tools.

Build a setlist

Name it, add an optional venue, then add songs from a searchable picker. Edit mode reorders by drag and removes with a tap. Split long shows into set groups — “1st Set”, “2nd Set”, “Encore”. The toolbar shows an estimated total running time for the whole set.

Run the show

Plays the set in order in the teleprompter; swipe left/right to move between songs, and the glasses and pedal follow along. Each row shows the song’s estimated duration and BPM.

Share and print

Share Playlist sends a formatted setlist (numbers, artists, BPM, key) by message or mail; Print Playlist makes a clean printer-ready copy for the stage floor. Deleting a playlist never touches the songs in it.

Set up and pair

1. Set up your G2 in the Even Realities app, then in its Even Hub, search for QMe Prompter and install the plugin.
2. Open QMe Prompter on the glasses — the lens shows a 4-digit code.
3. In QMe: Profile → G2 Glasses → type the code → Pair. Glasses Mode switches on automatically, and the link persists — you won’t pair again.

What the glasses show

Your previous line for context, the current line marked with ›, and the upcoming lines — each with its chords directly above the words they belong to, in your transposed key. Song title, play state, and position sit in the top corner. The display is decluttered automatically: blank lines, separators, tab blocks, chord diagrams, and section headers are filtered so every row of the small display is lyrics and chords — your songs themselves are untouched. In voice mode the lens flips to the next line just before you need it.

Glasses gestures

Song picks from the glasses start playback automatically (you can’t reach the phone), and stale commands queued while your phone was locked are discarded rather than yanking your set around. Triple-tap on the waiting screen unpairs — deliberately hard to do by accident.

Playing without internet

QMe caches the setlist to the glasses (up to 60 songs, plus a browser of up to 50 setlists). If the connection drops mid-show, the lens keeps showing lyrics and chords, marks itself OFFLINE, and you drive it entirely from the glasses — running past a song’s end rolls into the next song. Live sync resumes by itself. Closing the teleprompter on the iPad doesn’t blank the glasses either.

Brightness and fit

If the text looks dim, raise the display brightness in the Even app (turn off auto-brightness to set it manually), and adjust the display position and nose pads — the closer the projection sits to the centre of your vision, the brighter it reads.

Start or join

Start a Jam and share the 6-digit code; bandmates Join with it. Choose Solo Singer (everyone’s screen follows the one voice) or Multi Singer (each device tracks its own singer), pick a 4- or 8-bar count-in, and load songs from your library or a playlist.

In the jam

The screen shows the session code, who’s in, and who’s singing. If you scroll away from the singer, a Follow button snaps you back. The pedal works here too, and you can record the session — jam takes get a green JAM badge in the Takes tab. Jam keeps its own settings (font, dark mode, count-in) separate from your solo setup.

Guitar & bass tuner

A chromatic tuner with ten guitar tunings (Standard, Drop D, DADGAD, open tunings…) and six bass tunings. Big note display with frequency and cents, color-coded as you close in, “tune up / tune down” guidance, and a ding when you land. An All Strings mode lights up each string as you get it in tune. The tuner also streams to your Apple Watch and can be opened on the G2 glasses.

Drum tuner PRO

Four modes: Pitch (find the fundamental), Lug (even tension around the head), Resonant (balance batter against resonant head), and Spectrum (full frequency analysis). Fourteen genre presets — Classic Rock, Bonham-style, Metal, and more — with per-drum targets, and your own kit presets can be saved, exported, and shared.

Metronome

A rotary dial for BPM, tap tempo, accented downbeats, and time signatures including odd meters via Custom. The teleprompter’s click and count-in are the same engine, tied to each song’s BPM.

Play, search, share, delete

Every audio and video take from the teleprompter and jams, searchable and sortable, with badges for type and a full-screen player for video. Share exports the file anywhere; delete asks first. Free accounts hold 3 takes; Pro is unlimited.

Enhance PRO

A one-tap audio clean-up pass, on-device, for audio and video takes alike. The original is never overwritten — you can A/B Play Original against Play Enhanced, re-enhance, or discard the enhanced copy.

The notes canvas

Draw freely with Apple Pencil (finger pans, pencil draws) on a guitar tab sheet or a music staff sheet, across multiple pages. A song info bar stores tuning, key, capo, tempo, and time signature.

Chord boxes and manual tab

Search any chord (“Am, G7, F#m…”) and drag it onto a chord box — multiple voicings included. Tap a tab line to place a cursor and type frets and techniques (hammer-ons, bends, slides) from the on-screen pad.

Tab from Photo

Photograph a printed tab (or pick one from your library) and QMe reads it with on-device text recognition. You can also attach any chord-sheet image and view it full-screen over the teleprompter, annotating on top.

Share and print

Export the tab sheet, the lyrics sheet, or the attached image — or open the zoomable print view for paper copies.

Five screens, one glance each

Every control gives haptic feedback, and the metronome can tick on your wrist with a stronger downbeat — a click only you can feel.

Subscription

Your trial countdown or Pro status, the monthly and yearly plans, and Restore Purchase for subscriptions bought on another device with the same Apple ID. Renewals and cancellations sync automatically.

AI setup (your own key)

QMe’s AI features — Clean Up, lyric generation, the lyric assistant — run on your own Anthropic AI key, so there’s no markup and costs are typically under a cent per song. A 4-step wizard walks you through creating the key; it’s stored in your device’s secure Keychain, never on QMe’s servers.

Affiliate program

Share your referral code and earn 20% of the first year and 10% recurring on every musician you bring in — paid monthly to PayPal once you reach $10. The screen tracks your earnings and activity.

Sign out and delete account

Sign Out switches accounts without touching data. Delete Account permanently removes your account, songs, setlists, and recordings after a re-authentication step — it cannot be undone.

Song editor — three modes

• Structured — sections, lines, and chords as clickable elements. Click above any word to set its chord exactly there; add and remove lines and sections inline.
• ChordPro — the whole song as standard ChordPro text with [C] inline chords, faithful to your stored chord positions. Paste from anywhere.
• Plain Text — just the words, fastest for typing lyrics in.

Title, artist, key, BPM, duration override, notes, and color tag sit at the top; a Live Preview pane shows the performance view as you edit, and unsaved changes are flagged until you Save.

Web teleprompter

A full teleprompter in the browser: play/pause, manual or BPM auto-scroll, font and tempo controls, voice follow, previous/next through a setlist, and camera recording for practice review.

PDF import with Apple Music matching

Drop a PDF chord sheet; choose Smart, ChordPro, or plain parsing; QMe warns if you already have a song with that title and can search Apple Music to link the track in the same step.

Setlists on the web

Build and reorder setlists, then share them: copy as text, download as a file, share a link, or your device’s native share. ▶ Perform runs the whole set in the web teleprompter.

Books, tags, and sorting

The same books and six color tags as the app — create books with a color and icon, filter and sort your library, and everything appears on the iPad instantly.

Manage / delete songs in bulk

Search, filter, and check off any number of songs, then delete them in one action — behind a two-step confirmation so a slip can’t wipe anything.

Export ChordPro

Back up your entire library as standard ChordPro files — one file per song or a single zip. Your songs are always portable; nothing is locked in.

Export PDF

Pick songs and generate clean printed chord charts — chords above lyrics, one song per page — then save as PDF from the print dialog.

Import ChordPro

Drop any number of ChordPro files to add them all as new songs in one pass.

Import from SongBook Pro — one drop

Drop your raw .sbpbackup file and QMe imports everything in one step — songs with chords, keys, tempos, capo notes, and each song’s MIDI commands. A MIDI-only mode adds commands to songs you’ve already imported, matched by title.

Reset library

Wipes songs, setlists, and books for a clean start — useful before re-importing a whole library. It demands you type DELETE to confirm and can’t be reached by accident.

My pedal does nothing / does the wrong thing

Check the pedal’s mode first (the Device Guide lists the right one per model), then run Learn Pedal again. The Pedal diagnostics readout shows exactly what each press sends — if presses appear there, QMe hears the pedal and it’s an assignment fix; if nothing appears, re-pair in iOS Bluetooth settings. Note the pedal is intentionally off while the Apple Pencil canvas is open.

Voice follow keeps losing me

It hears the room. Raise the Instrument Filter in teleprompter settings, feed the iPad a vocal-only mixer send kept dry, disconnect Bluetooth headsets (iOS may grab their mic), or use Auto or Pedal mode on loud stages. During video recording the camera owns the mic, so QMe switches to auto-scroll automatically.

The glasses text is dim

Raise display brightness in the Even Realities app (turn off auto-brightness), and adjust the display position and nose pads — centred projection reads brightest.

The glasses show OFFLINE

Normal — the connection dropped and the lens is running from its cached setlist. Keep playing and drive it with the glasses gestures; it re-syncs by itself. Open your setlist once while online before a show so the cache is fresh (it holds up to 60 songs).

Glasses “Linked” but no lyrics

Profile → G2 Glasses → Reset Pairing, then enter the fresh 4-digit code from the lens. If the glasses plugin is very old, restart it from the Even Realities app first.

Chords look bunched at the left on one song

That song’s chord line carries no position information (a bare “Am F C G” list), so QMe spreads the chords evenly. Re-import it from ChordPro with inline chords, or click the chords into place in the web console’s Structured editor.

I edited on the website and it didn’t reach the iPad at a gig

Sync happens while the app is online. Open QMe with a connection once after editing on the web and everything is on the device — the whole library reads fine offline after that.

AI buttons say a key isn’t configured

QMe’s AI features run on your own Anthropic key — a one-time, 4-step setup in Profile → AI Chord Generation. It’s stored only in your device’s Keychain and costs about a penny per song.
