Chords from Stems iOS New in 1.48
Suno makes the song. QMe writes the chords. Bring in a song with its stems and QMe puts the chords over your lyrics, on the word where each change lands.
Where to find it
Edit Song → Chords from stems (top of Lyrics) · Song screen → Edit Lyrics → Chords
Tap Chords from stems and QMe works through the song, showing how far along it is. When it finishes, the chords are in your lyrics and a line tells you the key it found. If the song had no key or tempo yet, those are filled in too.
Nothing is saved until you tap Save, so you can look it over first.
What it needs
- The song's separate stems, with a Lead Vocal stem. A Suno song brought in with its stems ZIP has them. Stems from anywhere else come in with Import Stems. See Backing Tracks & Stem Mixer.
- The lyrics in the song, split into sections like [Verse 1] and [Chorus].
- The stems on this device. Open the song once with its track so they download.
If something is missing, the button says what, instead of disappearing.
The first time, your iPhone or iPad asks to allow Speech Recognition for QMe. Tap Allow, or Chords from stems can't run. If you tapped Don't Allow, turn it back on in Settings → QMe.
What you get
- Each chord sits over the word where it changes, the way a chord chart is written.
- The intro, instrumental and outro get chord rows of their own, bar by bar.
- Suspended chords, sevenths and the like show where the music has them (Fsus4, Gm7).
- The song's key and tempo, if it had none.
The chords then work everywhere in QMe: the scrolling lyrics, Chart View with Nashville numbers or Roman numerals, transposing, your glasses and the PDF for the band.
Check it, fix it or undo it
Edit Song or Edit Lyrics → Undo · edit any chord line
Play the song through once with the track and listen. Change any chord you hear differently by editing its line, just like any chord chart in QMe. Not happy with it? Tap Undo and your lyrics go back to how they were.
Treat it as a first draft, a very good one. Always play a song through before the gig.
Try it on the sample song
Lights Up, the sample song in your library, comes with its stems, so it is the quickest way to see Chords from stems at work. Open it, tap Edit Lyrics → Chords, then switch to the Chart.
Adding stems to your own songs is part of QMe Pro (included in your 30-day trial).
QMe is free to download. A new account gets 30 days of full access, no card required.
