The Best Lyrics Teleprompter App for Gigging Bands and Singers in 2026

What a working band needs on stage: words that keep up while you play, the whole band on the same line, and your lyrics wherever you need them, on the iPad, on your glasses, or on a screen for the crowd.

Updated September 30, 2026. From the team that makes QMe Prompter. Details on the other apps come from their own App Store listings and websites.

The short answer

For bands and singers who want their hands on their instruments and their eyes on the crowd, QMe Prompter is the one to get: the lyrics and chords follow your voice, lock to your backing track, or keep time with the song, on your iPad, on smart glasses, or on a screen for the room. Other popular options are OnSong, BandHelper, SongbookPro, LivePrompter and GigScroll.

QMe Prompter

QMe is built for the moment on stage when your hands are busy. The lyrics and chords move on their own: they follow your voice as you sing, lock to a backing track or Apple Music, or scroll to the song's tempo, with a Bluetooth foot pedal or an Apple Watch as backup. You play; the words keep up.

Good to know: QMe runs on iPhone and iPad, and anyone on Android, Windows or Mac can manage the library in the QMe web console. PDFs are turned into clean, editable lyrics and chords rather than shown as a picture of the page.

The other apps

OnSong is a long-standing iPad and iPhone chart library for text charts and PDFs. The free tier holds 30 songs, then it is a subscription.

BandHelper is band management: it shares songs and set lists with bandmates, handles gig details, and plays reference recordings for rehearsal. The service is a subscription.

SongbookPro shows chords, lyrics and PDFs on iPad, Android, Windows and Mac, after a 12-song free trial.

LivePrompter is a free app that scrolls ChordPro text files in time with the song.

GigScroll is a newer iPad and iPhone lyric prompter with lyric search and tempo scrolling.

They are good at holding your charts. QMe is the one that keeps up with you while you play.

Questions

Is there a lyrics teleprompter that follows my voice?

Yes. QMe Prompter's Voice Follow listens as you sing and keeps your lyrics and chords in step. On a loud stage an Instrument Filter helps, and with a full band, feeding it the vocal from your mixer gives the cleanest signal.

What is the best teleprompter app for a gigging band?

QMe Prompter is built for it: the words follow your voice, lock to your backing track or keep the song's tempo, the whole band can follow one screen with Jam Mode, and it works with foot pedals, Apple Watch and MIDI.

How much does QMe Prompter cost?

QMe Prompter is free for up to 3 songs, with a 30 day full-access trial and no card. Pro is $2.99 a month or $29.95 a year.
